In part 1of the story, Basil reads a letter that he is preparing to send to his mother. Using complete sentences, turn the question around and explain why Basil does not tell his mother the truth about his life at St. Regis.

He did't tell his parents because he dosent want them to send him off to a diffrent school and I think he dosent want his parents to worry about him.

i think basil does not tell his mother the true story about school because he doesn't want her to know that he is struggling and that he doesnt really like it. Most likely he does not want to make his mother nervous or upset

Basil doesnt tell his mother about the fights hes been getting in and him not doing well in classes, is due to that he doesnt want his mother to worry. Also that if his mother finds out that he isnt doing well then she may pull him from the school.

In the short story "The Freshest Boy" by F. Scott Fitzgerald the main character named Basil hides the truth about his life at St. Regis school for boys from his mother. One reason why he is hiding the truth is because of his close to failing grades. A second reason why he is hiding the truth is because he breaks the school policy by leaving school grounds when he is not allowed to.

basil does not tell his mother the truth about his life at st. Regis because he already feels unlike the others and is discouraged and does not want his mother to feel bad about his situation at his school.
