Read the quote above from The Pearl. Identify a place in the story where you think a character or some characters are behaving in a way that is "black and white" (not being open-minded or not seeing things or people in a different way) about something or someone in the story. Tell how you think the character or the characters should act instead in that part of the story.
"...as with all retold tales that are in people's hearts, there are only good and bad things and black and white things and good and evil things and no in-between anywhere." -The Pearl

A character I think is acting black and white is the doctor. He is rude, mean, lazy and judgmental. He hates the poor and never talks kind. He is never generous and only thinks about himself. The doctor should always want to help who ever it is and not matter on if they have money or not. He shouldn't hate anyone and always be very generous. He should want to save everyone if they are dying or are sick.

A character in "The Pearl" that acts black and white is the doctor. The docter would not help the baby because they were poor. The docter was being mean and not doing his job. I think he should have done what doctors do and help people that are hert or sick.

A place in the story were a charector is acting "black and white" is when the docter would not see Coyotito after she got bit by a snake. He would not even consider talking to the the family, he related to them as animals and he did not want to help them because they were poor.

The docter would not take any responcibilty in taking care of Coyotito. They are left on their own to deal with the scorpian bite.

Kino acts in a way that is black in white he makes an assumbtions about the doctor due to his nationality without knowing the doctor personally. Kino talks about how he has rage anger and how he is terrified he has all these feelings before he knocks on the door to speak with the doctor. Kino is upset because the doctors nationality (Europian) was very cruel to Kinos nationality (Mexican)

I think someone in the story who was seeing very black and white was the doctor when kino needed someone to take care of his son. I wish that the doctor had a more convicting heart and would help the child so that they can have life. Also, it would help the parents because it's hard to lose anyone you love.

I believe people in the story who are acting black and white are the town people. There aren't acting like individual people just like a swarm of locusts that are all thinking the same thing. I think they should act like better people and support kino
