"Now I understand one of the important reasons for going to college and getting an education is to learn that the things you've believed in all your life aren't true, and that nothing is what it appears to be."
What do you think Charlie means when he says:
"Now I understand one of the important reasons for going to college and getting an education is to learn that the things you've believed in all your life aren't true, and that nothing is what it appears to be."

I think Charlie says this quote because he is learning a lot of new things that are contrdictory to what he has always known. He is noticing things about the world that are completely new to him and he is starting to question everything. For example, all his life he believed that there was a God, but he heard college students talking about how there wasn't one. That conversation made him question what he had known and believe before the surgery.

He means that not everything you are told is true like when his "friends" told him to go around the corner to see if it was raining. Also he means that not everyone likes each other when doctor Strauss and professor Namur were fighting.

I think that Charlie does not have a good understanding of what college actually is. I think Charlie is saying that when you go to college you realize everything you've believed in your hole life is a lie. I think one of the reason he feels this way is because he heard a conversation about god not being real. All of his life he has believed in god so knowing that god might not be real hit him very hard. Listening to all of the conversations confused him and has really made him wonder what life is really like.

I think Charlie's quote meant. Every one told him that he was stupid and he could not learn anything.

You go to school to learn about science, math and other things just so all things you currently knew and thought we're reality, are shattered in front of you. Like religion is always diminished in the eyes of a science major. And that knowledge is frightening and that it isn't always good to have; also that it has to be used responsibly. With great knowledge come great responsibility.

Charlie is starting to realize that many things that he has been taught and had believed are beginning to be very questionable after hearing many people argue about many topics
