Beowulf and Wealhtheow survived Grendels assaults for similar reasons. One of the reasons was that the two are good of heart and they have done some wrongs but in gods light they are on the path of the righteous. Also due to Grendels pure evil he could not withstand Beowulfs hands and Wealhtheows attempt to save her husbands life.

I think that Beowulf and Wealhtheow both were able to survive Grendels encounters because they both have so much good in there heart. Grendel is evil and can not handle all this good.

the two charectors have many things in common. one is they both dont back down to fighting Grendal. They 're brave people. another thing they have in common is they're very powerful even though they're not big and monsterious like grendal is
